Special Occasion Hair & Make-Up

Today I did a hair and makeup design for a beach wedding, I kept her makeup natural, darkened and shaped her brow.  On the eye I used natural shimmer powders from Bobbi Brown. I love these colours because it really opens and enhances the colour of the eye. The lip I have given a pink colour with a gloss.

The hair style I have made simple and out of the way to keep my client cool through the wedding, I have done an up-do style. I have added a couple of hair extensions in to thicken and lengthen the hair, from this I brought the hair round to the side and placed in a low ponytail. On the ponytail I added a hair piece (doughnut) to create a neat hair bun. With any extra hair I wrapped it round the bun and clipped it in place, once I was happy with my look I added in the final hair piece to match my clients outfit.

MakeUp Inspired by a Country

I chose Thailand as my country to design makeup for. I researched the country that I have visited and enjoyed my time there, looking and researching there are two different types of makeup, you have the very natural, very flawless skin to the extreme makeup that the lady boys wear, also known as ‘drag’ makeup. I went for the flawless makeup and using the colours of the Thailand flower, the orchid, using pinks and lilacs.

I used the foundation and contour techniques that we learnt in previous lessons for my base, then did a pink and lilac eye makeup and a natural lip. I then used props to show the country including the fan and a parasol.

I feel for my first makeup piece I thought it went well, I do feel I could have been more adventurous in my work but I was quite nervous as to what I could do. If I could change things now in my piece I would, I would maybe add texture in my makeup design for example add flower petals into the eye piece or around the eyes. I know for next time to look outside the box and be more extreme in my makeup designs.
