Pantomime MakeUp

I have been asked to be part of the makeup team for a amateur pantomime, Beauty & The Beast, with Brighouse Theatre Productions. I was in charge with the dame makeup, I also did any other makeup that needed doing before the show.

Doing the dame makeup was a very different experience, I have never done such a bold makeup like this. I really enjoyed applying and been this makeup artist for the week of the show, I got into a routine and got quicker applying it as the week went on.

High Society – Amateur Production

I have been involved with Batley Amateur Thespian Society show as a performer and as the hair and makeup artist. This is my first theatre show I have done hair in and was quite nervous, the show was held for 4 nights but ran all week with the rehearsals that happened. For the hair I used rollers and a lot of hairspray, I only curled the top part of my performers hair to give it volume and easier to work with, with the design I wanted to do.

I rolled the hair around my models head into a ‘sausage’ shape, once my first row was secure I placed another roll behind. I then got the remains of the hair at the back and put it in a neat bun to one side.

After using a lot of clips and a full bottle of hairspray she was ready for the show!

I am very pleased to say it kept in throughout the whole show. I really enjoyed my experience of doing this hair style for this character.

I kept her makeup simple but dark enough for the stage, a  little on the eyes and kept the lip a natural colour.
